FAQs
How do you save on Auto Insurance?
There are many ways to save on your auto insurance. Having a good driving record, good credit score and drving a SAFE vehicle are of course the best ways to Save $$$$
What about increasing your deductible?
Increasing your deductible to a reasonable amount will save you some money, however, if you need to file a claim, the deductible must be MET FIRST prior to your coverage kicking in! You don't want this to be a hardship so keep this in mind when you are selecting coverage.Additionally, leased and financed vehicles may have a CAP on permissible and deductibles, check with your loan or leasing company!
What should you do about an inexperienced driver?
New drivers are considered a higher risk. Of course , they need to get some miles under their tires first but the price is never pretty. Consider having them use an older model vehicle( non sports car ) to soften the smarts of their insurance. Keeping them on your policy if you are the registered owner is required and they do receive the MULTI CAR discount as part of your policy ( a little silver lining ). They should practice SAFE driving and avoid temptation. Some companies have regulators in the car to monitor their driving and provide discounts for good driving methods.
What about multiple policies?
Bundling is the BEST way to SAVE $$$. The more policies you have with a carrier, the better the package becomes. Even consider adding a tenants policy if you are not a Homeowner. Umbrellla policies and scheduled personal property all can add to the savings! Typically each additional policy will increase the discount.
What happens if I live with a driver who has too many points?
The driver can go into PAIP as an individual and you and your vehicle can stay in the private insurance market.
What do you recommend in terms of coverage?
We recommend that you take the maximum amount of coverage that you can FIT into your budget! While everyone has a different budget, minimum limits may not cover all your needs in a total loss accident or lawsuit.
What does it mean to have your health insurance as PRIMARY on PIP coverage?
It is exactly what it sounds like, in the event of a PERSONAL INJURY claim, your health insurance would serve as PRIMARY and FIRST., PIP would be secondary! You need to confirm the availability of this with your medical carrier.
How do tickets and violations affect my insurance premium?
All MOVING violations will affect your safe and good driving record. It DOES NOT MAKE YOU A BAD PERSON, but your premium will reflect the driving record. It can take a few months for the record to catch up with your policy. Some exceptions to this would include the traffic light cameras that are now being used at traffic lights. They are simply fining your vehicle for advancing through a red light regardless of who the driver is. Non moving violation like a seat belt offense DOES NOT affect your premium. ( We do encourage Seat Belts at ALL TIMES, and of course no CELL PHONE USAGE while driving!! )
PLEASE Follow STATE WIDE legislature on CRACK DOWNS for cell phone usage and texting!
